Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the apple pie filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple pie filling.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  5. If using, sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake mix is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts over the apple pie filling before adding the cake mix.
  • This recipe is easily adaptable for a slow cooker. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until heated through and bubbly.
