Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup dill pickle slices, chopped
  • 1/4 cup white onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • For the Special Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix well until smooth. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to combine.
  2. Cook the Beef: Place the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Break the beef apart as it cooks. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Season the Beef: Add the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the cooked beef. Stir to coat evenly and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
  4. Assemble the Salad: Divide the shredded iceberg lettuce among four bowls or meal prep containers.
  5. Layer the Toppings: Top the lettuce evenly with the seasoned ground beef, chopped dill pickles, diced white onion, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Dress the Salad: Drizzle the homemade Special Sauce generously over the toppings just before serving.

Notes

  • For meal prep, layer the ingredients in Mason jars with the dressing on the very bottom, followed by the beef, then cheese, onions, pickles, and finally the lettuce on top to keep everything crisp.
  • You can substitute the cheddar cheese with a blend of cheddar and Monterey Jack for a different texture.
  • If you prefer a tangier sauce, add 1/2 teaspoon of pickle juice to the sauce mixture.
