Make the iconic, creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet special sauce at home in under five minutes using common pantry staples. This recipe perfectly recreates the famous flavor for burgers, fries, or as a versatile dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 Tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  1. Measure all ingredients into a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk the mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and sugar together until completely combined and smooth.
  3. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed; add a pinch more sugar for sweetness or vinegar for tang.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to fully meld.
  5. Use generously on your homemade burgers, as a dip for french fries, or in wraps and salads.

Notes

  • For a slightly different flavor profile, substitute regular pickle relish with finely minced dill pickles.
  • Chill time is important; the flavor deepens significantly after resting in the refrigerator for several hours.
  • This sauce is excellent on smash burgers and as a dressing for iceberg salad.
