Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Tequila Blanco
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.75 oz Blackberry Syrup
  • 0.5 oz Orange Liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • Fresh Blackberries, for muddling and garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle a small handful of fresh blackberries.
  2. Add tequila, lime juice, blackberry syrup, and orange liqueur to the shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice.
  4. Shake well until thoroughly chilled.
  5. Double strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  6. Garnish with a few fresh blackberries and a lime wheel.

Notes

  • To make blackberry syrup: Combine 1 cup fresh blackberries, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on solids. Discard solids. Let cool before use.
  • For a striking presentation, consider rimming the glass with salt or a sugar-salt mixture.
  • Adjust sweetness by altering the amount of blackberry syrup.
