A simple and flavorful marinade for tender and delicious carne asada, perfect for grilling.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together lime juice, olive oil, cilantro, garlic, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Place your desired cut of steak (skirt steak or flank steak recommended) in a resealable bag or shallow dish.
  3. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated.
  4. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or up to 8 hours for deeper flavor.
  5. Remove steak from marinade and grill to your desired doneness.

Notes

  • For best results, use fresh lime juice.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper for your preferred spice level.
  • This marinade is also great for chicken or pork.
