Quick and flavorful restaurant-style Chinese green beans with a savory garlic soy sauce, perfect for a weeknight side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add green beans and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until they begin to blister and char.
  3. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in soy sauce, sesame oil, and water or vegetable broth.
  5. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, until green beans are tender-crisp and sauce has thickened slightly.
  6. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra char, cook the green beans in batches without overcrowding the pan.
  • Adjust garlic and spice levels to your preference.
  • Serve with rice and your favorite protein for a complete meal.
