Scale
  • 6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and cranberries.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple and cranberry mixture and toss to coat evenly. Pour the fruit mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
  5. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Sprinkle the oat streusel topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
  8. Let the crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
