Ingredients
Scale
6 cups sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples and cranberries.
In a small bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple and cranberry mixture and toss to coat evenly. Pour the fruit mixture into the prepared baking dish.
In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat streusel topping evenly over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.
Let the crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
This crisp can be assembled ahead of time and baked just before serving. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
For a deeper flavor, use a mix of apple varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala.
