Ingredients
Scale
16 ounces rotini pasta
24 ounces spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
7 ounces pepperoni, roughly chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup water (if using thick sauce)
Optional: 1 cup cooked ground beef or Italian sausage
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Cook the rotini pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain well.
In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta, spaghetti sauce, oregano, garlic powder, and onion powder. If your sauce is very thick, add 1 cup of water to ensure the pasta is well coated. If using meat, stir it in now.
Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle 3 cups of the mozzarella cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.
Distribute the chopped pepperoni over the cheese layer.
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove the foil and top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the Pizza Pasta Bake rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a true ‘dump and bake’ method, you can cook the pasta ahead of time or use oven-ready pasta if your sauce volume is sufficient to cook it through.
Customize your toppings: Add sliced mushrooms, black olives, or bell peppers with the pepperoni for a Supreme Pizza Casserole flavor.
This recipe reheats well, making it a great option for meal prep.
