Create an artisanal finish for your meal with this simple, flavorful herb butter baguette. This easy appetizer elevates store-bought bread with fresh herbs and garlic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large baguette
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, snipped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. This is your herb butter.
  3. Slice the baguette lengthwise, opening it like a book, but do not cut all the way through the bottom crust.
  4. Spread the herb butter evenly over the entire cut surface of both halves of the baguette.
  5. Place the opened baguette directly on a baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the butter is melted and the edges of the bread are lightly golden.
  7. Slice into thick pieces before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, place the baguette under the broiler for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • You can substitute dried herbs for fresh, using 2 teaspoons total dried herbs in place of the fresh amounts listed.
