A simple recipe for fresh, flavorful homemade guacamole, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 red onion, finely diced
  • 12 serrano peppers, minced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • Optional: 1 Roma tomato, seeded and diced

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
  3. Add the diced red onion, minced serrano peppers, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt to the bowl.
  4. If using, add the diced tomato.
  5. Stir everything together until well combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or lime juice if needed.
  7. Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.

Notes

  • To prevent browning when making ahead, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole, ensuring no air pockets. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • For a smoother guacamole, you can use an immersion blender or food processor, but be careful not to over-process.
  • Adjust the amount of serrano pepper to control the spice level.
  • This recipe is great for game day dips, Super Bowl snacks, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, or as a side for taco night.
