Make this easy gourmet homemade pizza featuring creamy ricotta, salty prosciutto, and a spicy sweet hot honey drizzle. This recipe focuses on simple steps for a delicious weekend pizza night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or your best homemade pizza recipe dough)
  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 ounces thinly sliced prosciutto
  • 1/2 cup fresh arugula
  • For the Hot Honey:
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the hot honey: Combine honey, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan. Heat over low heat until warm, stirring until combined. Remove from heat and let steep while you prepare the pizza.
  2. Preheat your oven and pizza stone or baking sheet to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. If using a stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  3. Prepare the ricotta topping: In a medium bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg yolk, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Shape the dough: On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll the pizza dough into a 12 to 14-inch circle or desired shape. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or onto parchment paper set on a baking sheet.
  5. Assemble the pizza: Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
  6. Bake the pizza: Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is set.
  7. Add toppings: Remove the pizza from the oven. Immediately arrange the prosciutto slices over the hot cheese. Top with fresh arugula.
  8. Finish and serve: Drizzle the prepared hot honey generously over the entire pizza. Slice and serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, ensure your oven and baking surface (stone or steel) are fully preheated for at least 30 minutes at the high temperature.
  • If you do not have prosciutto, you can substitute with thinly sliced speck or skip the meat entirely for a vegetarian option.
