Make the perfect traditional chilled lobster roll featuring sweet lobster salad lightly dressed with mayonnaise, served on a buttered, toasted split-top bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb cooked lobster meat (tail, claw, knuckle), roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon celery, finely minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 split-top hot dog buns
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the chopped lobster meat, mayonnaise, lemon juice, minced celery, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until the lobster is just coated. Do not overmix.
  2. Brush the outside surfaces of the split-top buns generously with melted butter.
  3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the buns cut-side down on the hot surface. Toast until golden brown and crisp, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Divide the lobster salad evenly among the four toasted buns. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use fresh, high-quality lobster meat.
  • If you prefer a richer flavor, substitute half of the mayonnaise with crème fraîche.
  • Chill the lobster salad for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
