Make this refreshing peach iced tea recipe to serve guests with true Southern hospitality. This fruit tea highlights fresh peaches for a perfect summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 black tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose leaf tea)
  • 2 cups fresh peach slices
  • 1/2 cup peach nectar (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh peach slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine 4 cups of water and the sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to make a simple syrup. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the tea bags to the hot syrup mixture. Let the tea steep for 5 to 7 minutes, depending on desired strength. Remove the tea bags.
  3. Pour the steeped syrup mixture into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and the fresh peach slices. Stir well.
  4. If using, stir in the peach nectar for a stronger peach flavor.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the peach flavor to infuse the tea.
  6. To serve, fill tall glasses with ice cubes. Pour the peach tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with a fresh peach slice.

Notes

  • For a stronger peach flavor, gently muddle half of the peach slices before adding them to the pitcher.
  • If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the sugar in the simple syrup to 3/4 cup.
  • This recipe makes a great base for a summer cocktail; add a splash of bourbon for a spiked peach tea.
