A festive fall cocktail featuring pumpkin puree and a ginger kick, perfect for Thanksgiving or any autumn gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz bourbon or dark rum
  • 1 oz pumpkin puree
  • 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 0.75 oz ginger syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • For Garnish: Cinnamon stick, star anise, or dehydrated orange slice
  • For Rim (optional): Cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. If rimming your glass, prepare it by moistening the rim with a lemon wedge and dipping it in cinnamon sugar.
  2. Combine bourbon or rum, pumpkin puree, lemon juice, ginger syrup, and Angostura bitters in a cocktail shaker.
  3. Add ice to the shaker and shake well until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Double strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, star anise, or a dehydrated orange slice.

Notes

  • To make ginger syrup: Combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan. Add sliced fresh ginger and bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Let it steep for 15-20 minutes, then strain and cool.
  • Adjust sweetness and tartness to your preference.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, omit the spirit and add a splash of sparkling water or ginger ale.
