Achieve tender-crisp roasted asparagus with charred tips using a straightforward method perfect for a simple, elegant side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the trimmed asparagus on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil.
  4. Sprinkle the minced garlic, salt, and pepper evenly over the stalks.
  5. Toss the asparagus with your hands to coat everything thoroughly.
  6. Arrange the asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  7. Roast for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the stalks, until tender-crisp.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately drizzle with fresh lemon juice.
  9. If using, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

  • For thicker stalks, you may need to add 2 to 3 extra minutes to the cook time.
  • To ensure even cooking, do not overlap the asparagus stalks on the pan.
  • This recipe works well for oven baked asparagus when you want a quick vegetable side.
