Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko or regular)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup ketchup for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a standard loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, 2 tablespoons ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Stir in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese into the meat mixture.
  4. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the 1/4 cup ketchup and brown sugar for the glaze. Spread this mixture evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the meatloaf from the oven. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  8. Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Let the juicy cheeseburger loaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For a moister loaf, use 80/20 ground beef.
  • You can serve slices on hamburger buns with your favorite burger toppings like lettuce and tomato.
  • Pair this hearty beef and cheese bake with oven fries or onion rings for a complete meal.
